Sometimes I get a bluescreen and the PC reboots- mostly when I play a video file or PC game. I downloaded an updated Intel graphics driver which installed fine and actually boosted performance significantly but the screen flashes persist. After a lot of research I think I need a bios update but I cant seem to find one for win 7 ultimate. Information on this stuff isnt always accurate and I dont want to take any chances with the installation. My current BIOS software is 786E1 v01.09, 152007 (Q965Q963 Express Chipset Family) and the updated Intel Graphics Accelerator driver is version 8.15.10.1930, 9233009. I dont want to mess with the BIOS so Im hoping someone can point me to the right download. None of the BIOS release notes for any of the BIOS updates address a fix for any issue related to what you are experiencing. In any event, you can use that BIOS flash file but you CANNOT use the Windows based HPQ flash to update the bios in your PC. You are limited to flashing the BIOS by these two methods only: - Use the DOS utility with a pre-boot execution environment (PXE) management application to locally update or restore the system BIOS. Create a CD image to upgraderestore system BIOS. The instructions for doing these updates will appear when you download and run the executable file. ![]() If you feel uncomfortable with flashing the BIOS after reading the information presented in the file, then I would not do it. I did in fact manage to install the BIOS upgrade from Windows 7 Ultimate using that Flash file- it was really simple I just downloaded the 1.6 version and extracted it, then located the HPQ flash folder, run the executable as Adminisrator and then followed the instructions. But you were right, the BIOS update did nothing for the graphics issue. I dont know whats wrong with the Intel accelerated grahics diver it just wont work without the black screens and crashes. I uninstalled it, installed it again- several times, but nothing. I disabled the driver and my PC is working fine, with limited graphics performance of course. What did you mean a flaky memory chip problem How does it affect the graphics driver and how would I find out if thats whats causing the problem. What I mean is. all parts of the PC depend on memory and it may be the memory communicating with the video card that is having a problem, not the video driver itself. If you have more than one memory module in the PC, shut it down, unplug it and remove all but one chip. ![]() If it does, remove that chip and replace with the other and see if the crashing continues.
